Highlights from our wreathing workshops last weekend at @mettoweemint in picturesque Southern Vermont.
Carter and I just had such a wonderful time with both classes kicking off the holiday season and it was amazing to see the creativity flow and the huge variety of festive wreaths that were produced over the course of the day.
We can’t thank Sarah, Edward and their wonderful crews enough for inviting us up and making us feel so welcome at their festive nursery and greenhouses. It was truly a memorable experience and we can’t wait to visit everyone at @mettoweemint again soon!
Please join us this Saturday and Sunday in Millerton, NY for a CELEBRATION OF CRAFT, COMMUNITY + CARE at THE BLACK BARN WINTER MARKET @skyrisefarm
This intimate, indoor/outdoor, pre ticketed gathering is a one-of-kind way to herald the beginning of the holiday season and the arrival of Winter with its festive atmosphere and unique energy that fosters a sense of connection and seasonal celebration amongst makers and guests!
Beautifully set in a pine draped vintage dairy barn, the market features art, objects, gifts and goods by some of the Hudson Valley’s finest artists, makers, farmers, chefs, bakers and purveyors! From incredible goods, to food, drinks and sweets for purchase, as well as fireside grooves, interactive photo opportunities, making stations, community fire ceremonies and more, the experience is not to be missed!
Selected 2024 participants represent a special group of creatives that are elevating their craft through a sense of mission, vision and purpose wholly unique and wonderfully experienced. We are endlessly inspired by the process and offerings of each one of them, and we know you will be too:

The Perfect Sunday Read. We at last received our copy of our dear friend’s @christian_douglas_design @thebackyardfarmco new book The Food Forward Garden, and we couldn’t be more excited to dive into the pages this weekend.
We’re huge fans of Christian’s knowledge and eye, and it couldn’t be better timing than now to get this book. Carter and I have a huge design we’re working on for the backyard and although I always incorporate edibles into my plantings I haven’t done a focused garden for food and that’s just what we are looking to do in some sections of the new design.
Christian’s new book will no doubt be the guiding light on this subject for us this coming winter as we dive into all the fantastical elements of a food forward garden here.
Pick up your copy online or wherever books are sold, the perfect gift and you’ll want a copy for yourself too!
Amongst all the natural decor we add to our home for the holidays there are certain vintage pieces that I collect and love to display including holiday themed candles, little wooden cabins, and these fragile chenille wreaths from the 1940’s. Over the years I’ve picked up these wreaths including a few electrified ones at markets and thrift stores when I see them. These lovely old faded symbols of the season with their tattered ribbons and tinsel bring a warm sentiment and a smile each time I pass them for the short time they are on view.
What type of vintage Christmas item do you enjoy collecting and displaying in your home?
